Pilgrims in a distant land

For an academy outing, the entire school made its annual pilgrimage to the Cataldo Mission.

On Friday, October 9th, Immaculate Conception Academy climbed into three buses and as many vehicles to start this year’s pilgrimage to the Cataldo Mission. Due to the differences in age, certain classes were asked to walk further than others, the longest, leaving the school at 6:30 in the morning walked a grand total of eight miles, while the younger classes spanned between five and three miles, having left the school at 8:00am.

Exhausted by the morning trek, during which they sang the rosary and many different hymns, upon their arrival the boys leant their musical talents to the singing of the Mass of the Sacred Heart. The Mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Charles Deister, assisted by Rev. Fr. Thomas Duncan as Deacon and Rev. Fr. Paul Vassal as Sub-Deacon.

After the Mass, the entire school enjoyed a picnic on the grounds of the mission, where, once finished eating, each of the students (and teachers) amused themselves according to their delights.

The outing was in this way very beneficial to all concerned, both spiritually and physically.
